Paula-Marie Brown, The IET

From steam engines to gas turbines to weaving looms – what a day was had by 22 enthusiastic engineers at the Science Museum in London for the first cross-transport networks technical visit last Thursday.

We were privileged to be shown exhibits of interest by David Rooney the curator of transport who brought them to life with some fascinating facts and stories behind the objects on show.

Who would have thought that the success of an automatic weaving loom would have led to the Toyota Motor Company?

I would like to say a big thank you to David and the staff at the Science Museum involved in organising the visit - it was a huge success.

If you attended this technical visit it would be great to hear what you thought - which part of the visit did you find most interesting?
