About the Asset Management Network

What is Asset Management?

Asset Management is defined as:

The management of physical assets (their selection, maintenance, inspection and renewal) plays a key role in determining the operational performance and profitability of industries that operate assets as part of their core business. (Institute of Asset Management).

Our Vision

The Asset Management Network aims to advance the knowledge and understanding of asset management. We will aspire to do this in order to improve safety, efficiency and performance across industry in a sustainable way for the benefit of people and communities around the world.

Network scope

The Asset Management Network aims to fulfil the vision, mission, and strategic objectives of both the IET and the IAM through its activities and events (Read the IET's vision, mission and values statement and the IAMs mission statement).

The Asset Management Network intends to cover all aspects of Asset Management as determined in PAS 55-1:2008:

“Systematic and co-ordinated activities and practices through which an organisation optimally and sustainably manages its assets and asset systems, their associated performance risk and expenditures over their life cycles for the purpose of achieving its organisational strategic plan”.

How to join

To join this Network you must register on the IET website. Registration is free and enables you to view and comment on our discussion forums, articles and blogs. Using the website you may also log in to ‘MyIET’ a service which allows you to locate and send messages to other professionals.

Membership of the IET and IAM entitles you to a range of further benefits, including access to premium content (when enabled).
