The Robotics and Mechatronics Network aims to take a strategic role in co-ordinating the fragmented parties within the UK Robotics and Mechatronics community and beyond, to raise the profile of global activities and facilitate knowledge sharing in a way that is relevant, flexible and innovative.
Robotics and Mechatronics has significant importance when looking into the future of engineering, the International Federation of Robotics have predicted around a 10% growth rate in the sales of robotics through 2011. There is still no clear leadership in existence for the community and the IET has a great opportunity to take on this strategic role.
The Executive Committee has reviewed the Network scope and introduced industrial robotics and Security and surveillance. The following areas have been adopted as a focus for 2012:
