The new-generation Mercedes-Benz Travego travel coach will feature a world premiere when it’s launched in September, as it’s the first coach ever to be equipped with the multiple award-winning Active Brake Assist system.
Following a series of intensifying warning signals, the active safety system for emergency braking assistance automatically initiates a full application of the brakes should the driver fail to react to the imminent danger of a rear-end collision with a vehicle driving in front.
Active Brake Assist in the new Mercedes-Benz Travego not only represents an investment in greater safety; it also helps cut operating costs, as coaches equipped with the system receive a 5 per cent discount on liability insurance and comprehensive collision insurance policies offered by Mercedes-Benz Bank AG. A 5 per cent discount is also offered for coaches equipped with Lane Assistant and proximity cruise control. If all three of these assistance systems are installed in the vehicle, the discount amounts to 10 per cent.
The system has successfully demonstrated its efficiency in heavy-duty Mercedes-Benz Actros trucks, in which it has clocked up more than 350 million kilometres in normal customer operations.
